Mr. Van Eden is “of counsel” to R|A Law, associating with the firm for the specific purpose of meeting the estate planning needs of its clients. Mr. Van Eden has over twenty-five years of experience in estate planning and his practice focuses on assisting clients in planning their estates utilizing a comprehensive range of tools including personalized wills, trusts, and powers-of-attorney.
Mr. Van Eden is licensed to practice law in several jurisdictions: Florida, Georgia, the District of Columbia, New York, and England and Wales. This breadth of licensing demonstrates his commitment to serving clients in a variety of jurisdictions and internationally, ensuring their goals and needs are met across geographical boundaries.
Mr. Van Eden was also appointed a Florida Civil-Law Notary for life by the Florida Secretary of State and is authorized to issue civil-law notarial acts for use in civil-law jurisdictions (Europe and South America). This appointment enables Mr. Van Eden to bridge the gap between legal systems and deliver seamless results across international borders.
At the start of his career, Mr. Van Eden served as an Assistant Attorney General of Florida, prosecuting criminal cases before the Florida appellate courts, including the Supreme Court of Florida. He also served as a Special Assistant Public Defender, handling state and federal criminal appeals, imbuing him with a deep appreciation for the concepts of fairness and justice in the legal system.
Mr. Van Eden holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree with Departmental Honors in English and a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Miami. He also holds a Master of Arts Degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Chicago, reflecting his long-standing interest in the importance of the role of language in the law.
